In 2013 Mike finally jumped ship from the world of architectural & technical specifications management to develop what was fast becoming a full-time career in professional sound & lighting and stage management. For many years Mike had been providing live music services and felt it was now time to make his passion his profession. In 2015, in addition to providing audio equipment and sound engineering services to well known music venues and professional / touring artists in the north of England, Mike joined forces with long-time close friends to form Sound Alliance. Last year they became approved installers and resellers for JHS Leeds’ range of professional audio products including HK Audio, Lab Gruppen, LA Audio and Lewitt Microphones.

Mike has recently toured with the Chicago Blues Brothers show with responsibility for logistics, lighting design & operation, and also the stage management of their shows in theatres throughout Europe. He frequently operates state of the art lighting consoles, including MA, Strand, Avolites and ETC.

In 2016 Mike had the pleasure of working on several large auditorium and arena concerts, including; Grieghallen in Bergen, Norway and Atlas Arena in Łódź, Poland. Photo’s can be found on his Lighting Gallery page.

Mike hires his sound engineering services out along with his HK “Contour” Line Array sound system, Roland digital mixing consoles, and Lab Gruppen Amplification. Being fully modular his speaker system can either be “flown” or “ground stacked” and is easily configured to suit virtually any event. Some typical configurations from recent concerts, festivals, weddings and corporate events can be found on his Sound Gallery page.

Mike has a lifelong affinity with music – it’s a passion. In addition to being a musician Mike has done just about every other job from sweeping up and making tea to building racking and soldering hundreds of cables. Let’s also not forget driving thousands of miles every year, running the business and… being the occasional hero! It’s a labour of love for the love of good music. The job can seem a pretty thankless task where, when done well, the audience rarely thank the engineers and technicians. Joking, Mike is quick to mention that he’s very rarely thanked!
